Hi, I’m Orna Purkin, and I created OrnaBakes.com in October, 2012, where I share simple, step-by-step recipes, with pics, and now with YouTube clips, making them easy for you to recreate at home. I also include make-ahead tips, because I know how difficult it can be to get a balanced meal on the table while you’re also taking care of little ones.
As a former Weight Watchers Leader and Ambassador, and Private Coach, and having struggled with my weight for most of my life, I’m passionate about helping others to feel good about themselves.

My Shopping Lists take the guesswork out of what to buy, listing healthy choices (with Weight Watchers Points), and meal ideas.
I left South Africa in 1993, to pursue my dream of becoming a Jazz Singer in America, and study at the world-famous Berklee College of Music in Boston. (See Orna: The Very Thought of You) It’s funny how life can take you in completely different directions, and thanks to my wonderful husband, Sam, I feel blessed to be following my new dream of helping and inspiring others through food. It brings me such joy to cook and bake, and share my experiences and creations with others.
I now live happily in Los Angeles, with my adorable (and picky) toddler, and my sweet (and even pickier) hubby—with a sensitive stomach, so I’m always creating quick and easy meals that keep them both happy and healthy!
I hope that I can inspire you to make good choices, and to cook for your family—even if you’re a beginner. Just start simple and you will get better and better, and more confident. Kids who help to cook eat more fruits and veggies, so involve them in the process, and instill in them the joy of cooking at an early age.
My website is constantly evolving (as am I!), so if you have any ideas, suggestions, or feedback, I’d love to hear from you! I’ll be adding Nutritional Information and WW PP values to all my recipes.
A successful website is all about sharing, so if you like a recipe, or a shopping list, please take a moment and share it with your friends. Hopefully you will inspire them, and help my blog to stay alive in the process.
If you have any questions, post a comment and I’ll be happy to help.
If you’re in the Los Angeles area and would like to receive information about my Cooking Classes, please contact me.
